Which user of the super pole cradle does not know the problem! Adjusting the Rec and Dec axes has little to do with precision and becomes a time-consuming game of patience. Once you have made it and want to fix the wedge, it tensions and the beautiful setting is gone. The reason for this is, among other things, the flatness between the wedge and tripod and several other parameters that change the setting when fixing. The decay time is also very long due to the open design, which can be a nuisance when taking pictures. With our tuning version , these problems are a thing of the past.
Super tuning Wedge
All bearings of the shafts are revised to the most exact. This means that they are slidably mounted in brass / bronze. When the setting wheels are turned, there is an immediate movement of the direction to be changed. Even when changing the direction of rotation, only a slight backlash can be seen, which is also hardly noticeable. The adjustment can now be made with two fingers on the wheel, sliding smoothly.
Above you can see how clean the shafts are stored. No more rough game between casting and shaft. An excellent (in small quantities) high-performance grease is used which is ideally suited for all climatic conditions in astronomy.
The plan reference of the wedge and tripod is also revised precisely . Both surfaces are milled to match each other so that an exact flatness is created. No more tipping and consequent tensioning when fixing after adjusting the pole height cradle. Simply tighten the central screw and the wedge lies flat against the rock.
High-precision revision and the best materials guarantee a lot of fun when taking pictures and observing. A series product becomes a precision instrument for the highest demands.
The factory counter bearing of the right ascension axis is also replaced by a precise unit. Thanks to the M14 brass spindle installed by us and the solid aluminum bearing block used as a counter bearing, the right ascension axis can move almost without play. The back and forth movement of the bearing block, caused by the right ascension rotation, is not simply guided by a pin, but by a precisely fitted ball bearing which has just enough play to allow it to move freely.
The wedge's open cage at the factory has the disadvantage that the setting is warped again when the inclination plate is locked. The big game between cheek and inclination plate is the problem. Here too we take action, take out the game and insert 3 anodized aluminum shafts between the cheeks. This means that the once open cage is now closed and the swing-out time is significantly reduced.
Almost all of the materials we use are rustproof and therefore able to withstand all weather influences. Every pole height cradle is different and the mass varies.
