This reducer was specially developed for the newer Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes from Meade with ACF optics ("Advanced Coma Free") , which already have an integrated image field flattening. Here the Lepus acts as a pure reducer to shorten the focal length.
It is very well suited for f/8 and f/10 Meade ACFs . As a standard edition , the reducer has a 2" plug connection , no SC thread!
The 2" receptacle has an integrated filter thread (M48 x 0.75) to screw in different nebula filters.
Lepus has a back focus of over 100mm (105mm), enabling it to fully illuminate a 22mm CCD chip.
Advantages of the Optec Lepus Standard Reducer:
- the focal length of the telescope is reduced by a factor of 0.62. A focal length of 2000 mm becomes 1240 mm.
- the exposure time is reduced to below 40%.
- the connection to the Meade ACF telescope is made via the 2" receptacle.
- the generous working distance of 105 mm from the connection flange allows the use of off-axis guiders or filter wheels.
The Lepus Standard Edition has a 2" connector on the telescope side and a dovetail for Optec camera mounts on the camera side.
The right adapter for the respective camera model is available as an accessory.
