The MERLIN-42 (2020) multifunctional lens has a new collimator lens that is firmly connected to the housing - because unscrewing is no longer possible. Optimizations can be found in the housing components as well as in the software. A clear advantage, because the new generation of devices is therefore more precise and even more robust than the previous optics.
The MERLIN-42 impresses with an optimal price-performance ratio and is the leading thermal imaging lens. Simple and equally reliable handling and absolute precision in execution are the unbeatable strengths of this optic.
The MERLIN-42 can be hand-held and used as a front lens for daytime lenses. The optics has an integrated compass, inclinometer. The power is supplied by commercially available 2xCR123 (3.7V) batteries or rechargeable batteries. The powerful VOx detector and the OLED display in XGA format (1,024x768 pixels) deliver high-contrast and sharp images. The manually focusable 42 mm objective lens enables a detection range of up to 1,482 m. The built-in VOx detector allows an 8x magnification of the day optics. We recommend using the KA-MC clamping adapter (see accessories), which is available for all diameters.

According to the current nationwide change in law, the mechanical adaptation of multifunctional lens attachments to firearms is permitted. Thus, a multifunctional optical attachment with adapted weapon mounting is NOT a prohibited item. The item can thus be freely acquired / managed by holders of a valid hunting license. Use as a holder of a valid hunting license on shooting ranges, for example for the purpose of adjustment, is permitted.
Use in the context of hunting is the responsibility of the hunting regulations of the respective federal state.
Before attaching to weapons, check the regional legal regulations whether this is permitted in the area of application. The attachment to a weapon is always the sole responsibility of the user.
