I telescopi detti doppietti apocromatici hanno un obiettivo con una struttura a due lenti. Nella definizione non si distingue più tra semiapocromatico e apocromatico a due lenti.
Il secondo elemento è di solito in vetro ED (che sta per "Extra Low Dispersion"). Tuttavia è ancora presente una minima aberrazione cromatica, poiché una correzione completa è data solo da uno strumento con schema a tre lenti.
